To make the wrist and ankle restraints for the electric chair, I followed a design by Jay Duckworth. I cut them out of leather and used rivets to attach the pieces. I also sewed Velcro onto the ankle restraints to help the actors close them more quickly.

Painting

Many of our props needed to be painted red, black, or gold. To paint the tables, which were designed and 3-D printed by the scenic team (Roger Hanna, Thomas Ray, Doster Chastain), I used black paint followed by thin gray paint to add highlights. The cameras were painted black with gold lenses. There isn’t a process photo, but I did cut and staple neck straps onto the cameras. The trash cans needed to look disgusting, so I put Shellac onto the paper lining. I spray painted the microphone and attached it to the stand with hot glue.

Couch Dressing

I stapled the trim onto the couch and arranged the pillows on it.
